Text description provided by the architects. Clos du Clocher is a winery in Pomerol in the vineyards of Bordeaux.
The old building with a mixing chest, a wine storehouse and a dwelling was demolished and replaced by a new construction. The new project is located in the South-East angle of the site facing the vineyard, only separated by a small path. The 14x14m ground floor contains 4 rooms: an entrance, a dining room, a degustation room and a kitchen. A fifth room upstairs is a bedroom to house visitors. One side of each room is widely open to the landscape. The wine storehouse and a bottles storage are located in the 14x14m basement.
The timber structure of the roof made of thin beams oriented in the direction of the openings enhances the view. On top a wood terrace interlock with the roof slopes in natural zinc and gives to the bedroom a panoramic view. This project is made of concrete. The concrete floor slabs cast on site remain raw. Window frames are in natural aluminum and the ground, the washing area and the pedestrian access in float finish concrete.
